When automakers come out with concept vehicles, we can all imagine what the future of the automotive industry looks like. They give us a peek at what future technologies are available. Lexus recently unveiled the LF-30 Concept at the Tokyo Auto Show and it has created a vast amount of media attention. The LF-30 shows Lexus’s commitment to the future of electric and autonomous automobiles. The LF-30 looks and performs nothing like any vehicle on the road today, yet it has a Lexus authentic design to it. It may not be released until 2030, but let’s take a deep dive into what the future of Lexus electric automobiles might become.

Exterior Design of the LF-30

The exterior design of the LF-30 is truly futuristic and has all of the Lexus and automotive enthusiasts excited for what’s to come. The LF-30’s flowing body lines evoke a feeling of strength and sophistication. Since the vehicle is fully electric, the hoodless design of the exterior dramatizes the body lines even more creating aerodynamics and a signature look. Perhaps the most notable feature of the exterior, are the “gullwing” style doors that open to the entire interior. The LF-30 looks to be about the same size as other compact Lexus SUV’s like the UX or NX. The overall design of the LF-30 is absolutely magnificent and if the real vehicle looks anything like the concept, we will be more than pleased.

Interior Design of the LF-30

The interior of the LF-30 looks like it will integrate the latest autonomous technology and some cutting-edge technology that is not currently used in the market today. The LF-30 concept features a driver-centric cockpit with steering wheel mounted controls and a sophisticated heads up display. The vehicle’s rear seats actually shift and mold the size and shape of the passenger sitting in them, for unprecedented comfort. The vehicle actually uses an agile steer-by-wire system that is not used in the market yet today. There are different seat settings for relaxation, reclining, and alert, allowing the driver to customize the feel of the seating based on their style. The interior is said to be made from various sustainable materials, to align with the carbon-friendly future goals.

The Future of Lexus Vehicle Performance

The LF-30’s performance includes a wide variety of innovative technology. Some features include independent front and rear wheel control and individual wheel mounted motors to aide power and traction. This allows us to switch the LF-30 to front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, or all-wheel drive, depending on the road conditions or our preference. The LF-30 also features more artificial intelligence than we have ever saw in a vehicle, allowing for daily, wireless charging of the vehicle. While the LF-30 is not scheduled to be released until at least 2030, Lexus has pledged to have an electric version of every vehicle in their current lineup by 2025. This would lead us to believe that vehicles like the LF-30 are part of Lexus’s plans after their electric vehicle lineup is complete.
