The Lexus LC 500 Coupe is one of the flagship vehicles of the Lexus brand. Lexus recently announced the LC 500 family is getting a new member, the LC 500 Convertible! That’s right, the Lexus LC 500 is being made in a convertible model and it is set to go on sale in the summer of 2020. The LC 500 Convertible was first debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show back in November of last year. We cannot wait for the first-ever LC 500 Convertible here at Lexus of Edison, and we cannot wait to help our customers order this exclusive model. Even though we have to wait a few months, most of the details and specifications about the LC 500 Convertible have already been released. With that being said, let’s take a deep dive into the exterior, interior, and performance specifications of the upcoming LC 500 Convertible.
Redesigned Rear End and Top
The LC 500 Convertible is without-a-doubt a Lexus LC and will fit right in with the rest of the high-performance family. However, the LC 500 Convertible did receive some exterior redesigns. The LC 500 Convertible is a perfect combination of the LC 500 Coupe’s unique styling and bold body lines with the seamless addition of a soft convertible top. Lexus engineers and designers perfectly integrated the convertible top by lifting the trunk profile slightly, expanding the width of the spoiler, and adding the brake light to the trunk lid. The convertible top can be raised or lowered in around 15 seconds, even while driving up to 31 miles per hour. The top is composed of four layers, and will be available in black or beige to be paired with one of ten exterior colors. Whether you are driving with the top up or the top down, the Lexus LC 500 Convertible is an absolute head-turner.

Performance Up to Par
The LC 500 Convertible has the same amazing performance as the LC Coupe. The LC 500 Convertible will still be powered by a naturally-aspirated, 5.0L, V8 engine and an automatic, 10-speed transmission just like the LC Coupe. The LC 500 Convertible is only available in rear-wheel drive at this time, and probably will not receive an all-wheel drive version as the LC Coupe does not have one either. This high-performance powertrain gives us 471 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. Even with all of that power and the added weight of the convertible top, the LC 500 Convertible earns an estimated 16 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined.
Lexus engineers made it their mission to ensure the LC 500 Convertible still handled as dynamically as the LC Coupe. Spoiler alert – they succeeded! Because of the additional weight and altered weight distribution, they had to redesign the chassis. Lexus engineers relocated various structural braces, added additional ones, and swapped some components with die-cast aluminum parts for weight reduction. The suspension of the LC 500 Convertible was re-tuned with hours of drive tests. The LC 500 Convertible is an absolute dream to drive whether you use it for quick trips in the summer, take it through tight winding curves, or take it on long road trips.

Refined Interior with More Tech
The LC 500 Convertible’s interior has been specifically designed for optimal comfort with the top up or top down. The LC 500 Convertible comes with a unique, automatic climate control system called Lexus Climate Concierge with Upper Body Heating. The HVAC type of system controls the temperature and air flow of the vents located throughout the vehicle including in the steering wheel, seat, and behind the neck of the passengers. The wind noise reduction has been engineered to a whole new level. The rear molding and beltline has been redesigned and an automatic transparent polycarbonate wind deflector has been added. Furthermore, an Active Noise Control system utilizes sound absorption and sound insulation. Because the LC has such an amazing and unique engine noise, Lexus engineers designed a system to pipe engine sound vibrations into the cabin. This way you get the full experience of the LC’s performance, and wind noise is reduced to a minimum.
The technology in the LC 500 Convertible allows you to connect with your vehicle on a larger scale. Drivers and passengers can take advantage of Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa compatibility. The infotainment system is housed in a 10.3-inch, high resolution, split-screen, digital display that can be used to control your climate controls, apps, and navigation. The LC 500 Convertible will also come standard with Lexus Safety System+ and Lexus Enform Safety Connect. The available interior colors include Black, Circuit Red, and Toasted Caramel. The LC 500 Convertible highlighted throughout this article is actually an Inspiration Series edition. Production of the Inspiration Series LC 500 Convertible is limited to 100 vehicles that come with white semi-aniline leather interior, a blue convertible top, and exclusive Structural Blue exterior paint.
